WasteCap creates online recycling documentation site

Jan. 11 -- WasteCap Resource Solutions has created a new online recycling documentation Web site to track and document the reuse and recycling results on construction, deconstruction and remodeling projects.

Called WasteCapTRACE, the new offering helps streamline verification that recycling takes place.

"TRACE will allow contractors to save time while meeting all of their documentation requirements for recycling," said Jenna Kunde, executive director of WasteCap Resource Solutions, a Milwaukee-based group that promotes recycling.

Current recycling tracking and documentation is slow and inefficient, WasteCap said, as haulers collect copies of landfill weight tickets and pass them along to contractors. Contactors then collect numbers and analyze photos of dumpsters to determine volumes and weights. Those numbers then get passed along to regulators for processing, and the information is eventually compiled into a report to determine whether recycling goals were met, the non-profit group explained.

WasteCapTRACE allows users to enter project data online, and the program automatically monitors, calculates and documents project recycling results, WasteCap said.

WasteCap will provide online demonstrations of WasteCapTRACE starting Jan. 11. Registration is available at www.wastecap.org/events.
