Veolia Environmental achieves recognition for safety

March 19 -- Veolia Environmental Services says its achieved recognition for its safety efforts at an Illinois refinery where it does work.

The company´s Veolia ES Industrial Services Inc. unit said its on-site program at the Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC refinery in Robinson, Ill., has been accepted into the Voluntary Protection Program operated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

OSHA, during a ceremony this week, recognized Veolia for its efforts "in achieving exemplary occupational safety and health compliance," Veolia said. The program received the VPP at the Star Ward level, the highest possible, the company said.

"Our teams work hard every day, often under dangerous conditions. Therefore it is paramount that we are diligent in providing health and safety programs that fully protect our employees and our customers," said Mike Rose, president and CEO of Veolia ES Industrial Services.

Veolia ES Industrial Services provides industrial cleaning, mechanical and maintenance services and environmental waste management services.
