ISRI director of commodities to retire at end of year

March 12 -- Bob Garino, director of commodities for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc., will retire at the end of this year, ISRI said Thursday.

Garino has been with ISRI since the organization was formed in 1987 from the merger of NARI and ISIS and was with NARI for two years before that.

"Bob´s knowledge and experience is well known throughout our industry," said ISRI President Robin Wiener. "He has helped ISRI develop a leadership role in understanding commodity trends and developed a working relationship with experts in the various commodities and in national and global economics that has greatly assisted ISRI´s membership in navigating through many economic cycles. We are going to miss him terribly. It will be a real challenge to find someone of Bob´s caliber and expertise to fill his shoes."

ISRI has begun the search for Garino´s successor and is seeking candidates for the position, with hopes to have a final candidate in May. To contact ISRI regarding this search, contact sherylpursch@isri.org.
