Veolia Environment cuts debt by 1.4 billion Euros in 2009

March 8 -- Veolia Environnement, parent of Veolia Environmental North America, said it cut its debt significantly in 2009.

The Paris-based multi-national company said debt fell to 15.1 billion Euros at end of 2009 compared with 16.5 billion Euros at the end of 2008.

Veolia Environmental North America provides solid waste, hazardous waste and industrial services and is based in Chicago.

Revenue for the entire company fell 3.4% year-over-year to 34.6 billion Euros. Veolia has 31,000 employees in North America and 336,000 employees around the world.
