KENWORTH TRUCK CO. has introduced the Cummins Westport ISL G natural gas engine for the Kenworth T800 shorthood and W900S models. The ISL G engine operates on either compressed natural gas or liquefied natural gas. has introduced the TerraPro Low Entry with a heavy-duty natural gas-powered engine supplied by Cummins Westport. The TerraPro Cabover model will be available later, the company said. The 9-liter Cummins Westport ISL-G is rated at 320 horsepower. It can use compressed or liquefied natural gas and has a three-way catalytic converter to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency´s 2010 emission standards.

KENWORTH TRUCK CO. has added an aftermarket crew cab conversion option for the Kenworth T270 and T370 medium-duty diesel-electric hybrids in pickup and delivery and utility applications. The 157-inch BBC crew cab uses a one-piece fiberglass roof with 4-inch raised rear section. CUMMINS INC. has unveiled its on-highway engine lineup geared to meet the new Environmental Protection Agency emission regulations taking effect in January that will require nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emission levels of 0.2 grams and 0.01 grams per brake-horsepower-hour, respectively. Additionally, onboard diagnostics will be required for the first time on heavy-duty diesel engines for on-highway vehicles weighing more than 14,000 pounds. MACK TRUCKS INC. has developed a low nitrogen oxide solution for its Mack MP Series engines built after Jan. 1, 2008. Customers have the option to specify the idle emission certification as CARB 08. This means the truck´s engine has been certified to meet the 30 gram per hour NOx limit required by California law. Southwest Research Institute: Natural gas engine
SOUTHWEST RESEARCH INSTITUTE has developed a low-emission, heavy-duty natural gas engine that meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency´s 2010 emission standards. The engine emits greatly reduced levels of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter, allowing the production of heavy-duty trucks that restrict the release of pollutants into the atmosphere, according to the company. Autocar has introduced the Caterpillar C-11 engine to its lineup of engine choices for the company´s Xpeditor trucks. The C-11 is the replacement engine for the Cat C-10 and offers increased displacement for longer engine life, and fuel economy is expected to be excellent due to variable valve actuation and the Cat MEUI fuel system, the company said. Natural gas engine provides sufficent power for refuse trucks
Cummins Westport Inc. has introduced the high-performance low-emission L Gas Plus natural gas engine. The Cummins Westport L Gas Plus combines the environmental advantages of clean-burning natural gas engines with more than enough power and torque for heavy-duty refuse trucks, municipal work trucks, medium-duty trucks and transit bus applications. In addition, the L Gas Plus has a variable geometry turbocharger that provides impressive low-end torque and transient response, according to the company. The L Gas Plus uses Lean Burn Spark Ignition combustion technology with an oxidation catalyst. At 8.9 liters, the L Gas Plus offers a best-in-its-class power-to-weight ratio with 320 horsepower at 230 revolutions per minute and 1,000 foot-pounds at 1,400 revolutions per minute, the company said. Cummins introduces A Series engines for industrial vehicles
Cummins Inc. has unveiled the A Series engines for industrial markets, which are available from 18 to 60 horsepower and from 0.9 to 2.3 liters displacement. International Truck & Engine Corp. has introduced the HT 530 diesel engine, providing improved low-end torque -- a 25 percent improvement over previous models. Motor offers better heat dissipation, bidirectional rotation
Rockwell Automation has introduced the G30 Global Series of motors, which range from 250 to 900 horsepower. The motors offer improved heat dissipation, and the AC motor series is suitable for variable-frequency applications. Engine coolant reduces maintenance
Evans Cooling Systems Inc. has introduced NPG, a nonaqueous coolant for internal combustion-engine lift trucks. The coolant has been used previously in racing and long-haul trucking, according to the company. It should dramatically lower maintenance costs and improve reliability for lift trucks powered by gasoline, diesel fuel, natural gas or propane, according to the company. The nonwater-containing coolant provides freedom from overheating problems, eliminates the need for coolant changes for the life of the vehicle, and offers the ability to run the cooling system at low or no pressure, eliminating burst hoses and other pressure-induced cooling system failures, according to the company. Cummins unveils 280-horsepower natural gas engine
Cummins Inc. has introduced a 280-horsepower natural gas engine for use in refuse trucks and other vehicles. The C8.3G has a peak torque of 850 foot-pounds at 1,400 revolutions per minute and a governed speed of 2,400 rpm.
