The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries will wrap up its 20th anniversary celebration at its annual convention in Las Vegas April 6-10. MOREģ The 20th anniversary of ISRI is an appropriate moment to reflect on how the scrap recycling industry has evolved and to look forward to where the industry is heading. It´s also a logical time to document the successful integration of the Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel and the National Association of Recycling Industries into the dynamic and healthy association that is ISRI today. MOREģ The scrap industry today is vastly different today than in 1988 when ISRI was formed, said Herschel Cutler, who retired as the association´s executive director in 1997. MOREģ When disaster strikes, the cleanup can seem overwhelming. MOREģ The electronics and scrap recycling industries will further mesh this year as two industry groups continue their courtship in Las Vegas. Heck, they may even wind up in one of those drive-through chapels before the trip´s over. MOREģ One of the major benefits of ISRI is that recyclers of all scrap commodities have a single voice to lobby on their behalf before Congress and the EPA, said several current and former ISRI officials.
