Plant converts to recyclable, wax-alternative boxes

Feb. 2 -- Mountaire Farms has converted to using recyclable, wax-alternative boxes at the company´s Lumber Bridge, N.C., poultry plant, the largest such facility in the nation.

The company worked with Interstate Container and Global Green USA on the conversion.

"Converting to transfer packaging certified as recyclable by the Fibre Box Association, is a readily achievable step that industry and businesses can take to improve their environmental performance, enhance their service to customers, and improve their bottom line," said Annie White, director of Global Green USA´s Coalition for Resource Recovery.

Global Green USA is the American unit of Green Cross International, a group aimed at ensuring a "just, sustainable and secure future for all."
