WM Inc. expands land preservation with 24 new projects

Nov. 12 -- Waste Management Inc.´s efforts to preserve land for wildlife continues to expand as additional 24 programs at company locations have been certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council.

The council also recertified 18 other programs as protected habitats, and Waste Management now has 73 programs operating, the Houston-based solid waste management company said.

Waste Management has a goal to earn WHC certification of 100 programs and preserve 25,000 acres by 2020.

The Wildlife Habitat Council is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the quality and amount of wildlife habitat on corporate, private and public lands.

"WHC´s work proves that corporations and advocates can work together to improve the environment," Waste Management CEO David Steiner said.
