Aflac leases densifier from Dart to recycle foam trays

Nov. 3 -- Foam food containers and trays will now be recycled at Aflac´s international headquarters in Columbus, Ga.

The insurance company is leasing a foam densifier from Dart Container Corp. as part of Dart’s Cups Are REcyclable program. The densifier will compact used foam food containers and trays the size of a small car into a bundle about the size of a five gallon bucket.

Recycled foam food service products can be made into building insulation, plastic lumber and other products, the company said.

Dart developed program to help companies with large-scale food service and cafeteria services separate foodservice foam waste from other trash and divert it from landfills.
