IESI creates partnership to divert food waste from landfills

Oct. 22 -- Solid waste management company IESI is starting to work with Converted Organics Inc. on the collection, processing and conversion of food waste.

IESI clients including locations for Hearst Corp., Google, and Chipotle Mexican Grill will now have their food waste diverted from landfills and converted into soil amendment and fertilizer products by Converted Organics.

"Incorporating IESI into our extensive waste hauling network provides Converted Organics with another source of high-quality organic waste for the manufacture of our all-natural organic fertilizers," Jack Walsdorf, vice president of waste management at Converted Organics.

IESI is the U.S. division of IESI-BFC Ltd., which has operations in both the United States and Canada.
