Smurfit-Stone to operate Waste Services´ Fla. facility

Oct. 14 -- Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. is again linking up with Waste Services Inc. on a recycling operation.

The company is one of the country´s largest paper recyclers and will now operate Waste Services´ materials recycling facility in Hialeah, Fla., near Miami.

Smurfit-Stone, based in Creve Coeur, Mo., already operates MRFs for Waste Services in Taft and Sanford, Fla.

"Our work with WSI in Hialeah builds on the already strong relationship between our two companies," said Mike Oswald, senior vice president and general manager of Smurfit-Stone´s recycling division.

Smurfit-Stone operates 29 MRFs in the United States and collected about 6.6 million tons of recyclables last year.
