Waste Management releases new sustainability report

Jan. 15 -- Waste Management Inc. is out with a new sustainability report that outlines the company´s efforts to advance its environmental performance.

"Not only are we setting ambitious targets for our own operations, we are also continually expanding the ways we can help customers thrive through efficient and responsible practices," said CEO David P. Steiner.

Waste Management, in 2007, established goals to double waste-based energy production, triple the volume of recyclables it handles, improve fuel efficiency and cut emissions by 15%, and increase the amount of land it preserves and restores for wildlife.

Called "The Color of Our World," the report is available at www.wm.com/wm/environmental/srr.asp.
