N.C. hospitality industry gets new recycling tool

Nov. 12 -- North Carolina bar and restaurant owners have a new tool to help them comply with an upcoming state law that requires them recycle all beverage containers.

The Partnership for Bar & Restaurant Recycling Web site, www.partnership4recycling.org, features model programs, how-to information, signage and other resources. State lawmakers passed a bill that will require bars and restaurants holding certain alcoholic beverage control permits to recycle glass, metal and plastic containers beginning Jan. 1.

The partners in the promotion effort are the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance, the Glass Packaging Institute and the Land-of-Sky Regional Council.
