Bank of America donates $500,000 for alternative energy in China

July 18 -- Bank of America is donating $500,000 to help fund alternative energy use in China through the Nature Conservancy.

The money is aimed at finding practical solutions to reduce the cutting of wood from the country´s most sensitive forests for home heating, cooking and construction, Bank of America said.

"At Bank of America, we promote healthy communities through progressive environmental practices, through community development lending and investing, through volunteerism, and through philanthropic giving to organizations like The Nature Conservancy," said Anne Finucane, global marketing and corporate affairs executive and head of the Charlotte, N.C.-based company´s environmental council.
