Computer maker unveils green PC

Dec. 14 -- Computer Technology Link Corp. has introduced an environmentally friendly personal computer, complete with reduced packaging for easier recycling.

The CTL Meridian SL700 uses 15 to 25 percent less electricity than other computers. The system also has a lead-free motherboard. Portland, Ore.-based Computer Technology Link includes a coupon for the free disposal of the computer at the end of its life. The company also offers free recycling of computers being replaced by the Meridian SL700.

Computer Technology Link makes PCs, laptops, monitors, servers and flat-panel televisions under the Nexus brand.

"Several years ago we implemented a CTL computer recycling program to help prevent filling of landfills with hazardous materials, and our new CTL green PC is a move to further our efforts to limit use of resources," said Erik Stromquist, Computer Technology Link executive vice president.
