Clothing maker to provide retailers with wind energy certificates

Sept. 14 -- Outdoor apparel manufacturer Prana is providing 250 of its retailers renewable wind energy certificates to offset the electricity their stores consume.

The Vista, Calif. company eventually will include all 1,000 of its U.S. retail customers in the program, which offsets 100 percent of the electricity the stores use. The company also will offset all of the electricity it uses at its headquarters and the homes of all of its employees beginning in October.

"The word prana is synonymous with breath. Investing in wind as a natural source of power is a perfect fit for us," said Beaver Theodosakis. "Our purchase of clean, renewable energy on behalf of our retailers sets a new precedent."
