Wis. aluminum company faces EPA citation for air violations

Oct. 26 -- Mercury Marine failed to comply with federal clean-air regulations at its Fond du Lac, Wis. aluminum recovery plant, according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency allegations.

The EPA cited the company for allegedly not complying with federal operating, planning, notification, reporting, testing and record-keeping requirements. Mercury Marine did not test for dioxin and furan emissions at the facility, according to the agency.

The company faces an EPA-issued compliance order that may include a fine. The agency also could bring a lawsuit against Mercury Marine if its alleged noncompliance continues.
