Other cities that have joined with CPSC include Pasadena, Claremont and the San Gabriel Council of Governments.
"We’re dedicated to reversing the trend of California producing more and more waste every year," said Heidi Sanborn, executive director of the California Product Stewardship Council. "With the support of local governments such as the city of Monrovia, we move one step closer to achieving our goals for a vibrant consumer economy with sustainable production and consumption."
The CPSC was organized to increase producer responsibility for disposal and recycling of products covered by the state’s Universal Waste Ban and to provide a forum for existing and proposed Extended Producer Responsibility municipal mandates. Products that are part of in the Universal Waste Ban include electronics, batteries, and mercury- and lead-containing products.
