Alternative Energy sues group over defamatory remarks

Aug. 27 -- Alternative Energy Holdings Inc., which has proposed to build a nuclear power plant in southwestern Idaho, is suing an environmental group for making defamatory remarks.

The Boise, Idaho-based company filed the lawsuit in the Idaho´s 4th District Court after the Snake River Alliance called the company "scammers." The comments, broadcast Aug. 11, defame the company and its stockholders, said Donald Gillispie, president and CEO of AEHI. The company has passed two independent financial audits, which have found nothing amiss, he said.

"These radical groups are allowed to make almost any claim they wish, regardless of the facts, and the media rarely questions them," Gillispie said. "Someone has to hold them accountable.

AEHI plans to build a 1,600-megawatt nuclear reactor near Mountain Home, Idaho, called the Idaho Energy Complex.

It is about time that false statements about companies, executives, & managers are challenged in Court. Individuals do not have the right to defame and lie about anyone so they can promote their agenda. When found guilty, the courts should impose VERY STIFF FINANCIAL PENALTIES on ALL particiapnts, including ALL MEMBERS of an orgainzation that has endorsed such false statements. Why is it so hard to tell the truth??? If someone has an opinion that is based in fact then they are free to say it...but to lie as a means to promote an agenda is plain WRONG....these people know it and are continue to act this way because they are never held to account for their lying. IT IS TIME TO CHANGE THIS AND PUNISH THOSE WHO SEEK TO USE LIES AND FALSE REPRESENTATIONS TO DISTORT AND CHANGE PUBLIC OPINION.
