Man killed at metal recycling facility in Missouri

A 35-year-old man was run over by heavy equipment and killed March 4 at a metal recycling facility Springfield, Mo.

The man, a "general laborer" at All Metal Recycling, on West Division Street, was not operating the equipment but was nearby when the accident occurred, police told KOLR-TV. Police officials did not elaborate on what type of heavy machinery was involved. The name of the victim was no immediately released.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Police Lt. Robert Pitts told KYTV that the incident is being treated as an industrial accident.

Local police and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration will continue the investigation.
