The U.S. EPA and the New York City Department of Sanitation have extended the period of household hazardous waste pickup through Dec. 9 for neighborhoods impacted by floods caused by Hurricane Sandy.
An EPA news release lists solvents, paints, cleaners, oil, propane tanks, batteries, petroleum products, weed/bug killers, car batteries, bleach and ammonia among the potentially hazardous waste products included in the pickup.
The EPA and its contractors will perform curbside pickup in affected neighborhoods, the release indicates.
