Residents in Sacramento will be required to have yard waste bins and recycling will be reduced to biweekly, the Sacramento Bee reported.
The City Council approved the changes unanimously and they will go into effect July 1, 2013, the newspaper reported. The reduction in recycling collection will save the city approximately $1 million annually, the newspaper reported.
Voters approved a measure in November that would allow the City Council to repeal a law that prohibited the city from requiring green waste bins.
