Citing anonymous sources, the Jacksonville (Fla.) Business Journal reported Monday afternoon that Advanced Disposal Services Inc. will make St. Johns County, near Jacksonville, the home of its new headquarters.
But Advanced Disposal CEO Charlie Appleby told Waste & Recycling News later Monday that the company was still considering its decision.
The Business Journal reported that according to "real estate" sources, Advanced Disposal is deciding between two buildings in St. Johns County. The report also mentions other locations the company had previously said were possible headquarters locations, including Jacksonville, Atlanta, Charlotte and Milwaukee.
"I don't know where they got that information from," Appleby said about the report. "It's partially accurate in terms of what's being considered. There are parts of that story that are definitely inaccurate in terms of areas that they say we are considering which we are in fact not, and have not been considering for quite a while."
"Until it's done, it's not done," he added, "We've got some things that are still working. I think everybody knows that we are fairly close to a decision, but it's not yet been announced."
The Jacksonville-based solid waste management company, fresh off its acquisition of Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc., is in the final stages of determining where its expanded headquarters will be located. An official announcement on the decision could come as soon as Tuesday.
