Redemtech bought by electronics component distributor

Arrow Electronics Inc., a distributor of electronic components and enterprise computing products has acquired e-waste recycler Redemtech Inc., the company announced.

The deal is expected to close within 60 days, and terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of Redemtech further strengthens our industry-leading position in the [electronics asset disposition] market and strategically expands our footprint and capabilities in this fast-growing market," said Paul J. Reilly, executive vice president, finance and operations, and chief financial officer of Arrow Electronics in a statement.

Columbus, Ohio-based Redemtech has approximately 400 employees and are expected to have sales of $60 million in 2012, Arrow Electronics said. Redemtech has been an outspoken as a member of the Coalition of American Electronics Recyclers pushing for the approval of legislation that would bar the export of e-waste to developing countries.
