Dave Paul, center, a regional sales manager for Wayne Engineering of Cedar Falls, Iowa, planned his wedding day for May 1 at Waste Expo in Las Vegas. His wife, Jessica, agreed. Paco Rosic, right, an artist in Waterloo, Iowa, painted the Waste Pro truck behind the couple for their special day in the Wayne Engineering booth.
Las Vegas -- Just when you think you've seen it all at Waste Expo in Las Vegas, a young woman shows up in her wedding dress.
Jessica and Dave Paul were married at the annual show on May 1, complete with bridesmaids, champagne, three Elvises and, yes, a garbage truck.
Jessica gave Dave free reign to plan their wedding, "and this is what happens," she said with a laugh.
Jessica wasn't complaining though. She seemed to relish the afternoon, as passersby -- perfect strangers, really -- stopped to offer their congratulations. The day was also special because it was her parents' 41st wedding anniversary.
"It was a fun," she said. "We had a blast."
Dave, a regional sales manager for Wayne Engineering in Cedar Falls, Iowa, said he got the idea because he loves Waste Expo. He commissioned Waterloo, Iowa, artist Paco Rosic, an immigrant from Bosnia, to paint a tropical scene on a Waste Pro garbage hauler, parked in the Wayne Engineering booth.
Wayne is a manufacturer of automated side-loaders, rear-loaders and front-loaders.
