Green City Award

Do you know a municipality that is setting the example for how cities should be handling recycling and waste? A city that's creative, innovative and getting real results in making the planet a better place? Make sure that town gets the recognition it deserves by nominating it for Waste & Recycling News' Green City Award.

The Green City Award is given by Waste & Recycling News to municipalities that are doing extraordinary things to reduce waste and boost recycling. You can nominate any community that you believe is making a difference.

The awards are broken down into three categories based on the size of the community. One community will be awarded in each category.

The 2013 Winners are:

Large-sized community: Columbus
Medium-sized community: Eugene, Ore.
Small-sized community: Beloit, Wis.

Finalists:
Large-sized community (500,000 or more residents)

• Atlanta
• Sacramento

Medium-sized community (100,001 to 500,000 residents)
• Gainesville, Fla.
• Ventura, Calif.

Small-sized community (100,000 or fewer residents)
• Dartmouth, Mass.
• New Westminster, BC, Canada
