Editorial: Is there a recycling paradox?Then-doctoral-students Jesse R. Catlin and Yitong Wang set up an interesting experiment: They sat undergrads in a room, one at a time, and told them they would be testing scissors. They gave each of them the same task of cutting out shapes. They placed a ream of paper on the table.
Half the students were in a room with only a trash can. The other half were in a room with a trash can and a recycling bin.
